Me

Hello and welcome to my site, which has turned into a bit of a hybrid between an online portfolio and a blog with reviews and comments on stuff that I’ve used and shoots I’ve done. Before you look around at my pics and video, and I begin talking ( at length ) about kit, light and the other things that I’m obsessed with, let me introduce myself properly. Right….

I’m a commercial photographer, and have been for the last ( counts back through the recesses of memory ) two decades. I was lucky enough to begin my career assisting two brilliant, and very different photographers: Bob Carlos Clarke and Patrick Lichfield from whom I learnt a lot.

In the late 90’s, when we had brick phones and the web was something spiders live in I decided with razor-sharp judgement ( OK, I loved the kit ) to turn my whole business digital.

It’s been a learning experience, and I will always be trying things out and experimenting. I’ve worked for a very eclectic client list, from ‘A’ list celebrities and ad agencies to boutique brands and a worrying number of furry characters. You can see who in my portfolio. If I tell you that an ice-skating Rupert the Bear has been a highlight, please don’t judge me :-)

Over the last couple of years I’ve been doing more and more film and video. The web – highjacked from spiders by now, of course – means that the moving image is very much in demand, and pro cameras are now so advanced that you can shoot a very decent film on a stills piece of kit.  I’ve learnt a lot about editing, sound levels and the joys of Final Cut, but, again, this is all part of the process and it’s fun ( most of the time ) to discover how the skills I’ve learnt as a snapper can transfer. Plus, it’s a whole new shopping opportunity!

So, that’s me. As I say, I’m a bit of a camera and lighting geek and can talk ad infinitum on these matters, so please feel free to comment and question. Oh, and I should add that all the reviews are my own honest opinion. I haven’t been paid and can’t be bribed!

Thanks for stopping by.

ps – Forgive the beta build – should be sorted end of next week..
